Definition
Game-issued items were manufactured, prepared, and delivered to a player for use — but cannot be photo-matched to a documented game or play. They're real player items, distinct from retail replicas, but priced below confirmed game-worn pieces.
Why it matters
The distinction between game-issued and game-worn moves price by significant multiples. Documentation determines which tier you're in.
Example
A team-issued jersey for a starting quarterback in 2018, delivered to him at training camp, but never photo-matched to a specific televised play. Priced as game-issued, not game-worn.
